Frontier Constabulary restructured as Federal Constabulary with nationwide mandate

In a move aimed at improving law and order across Pakistan, the federal government has restructured the Frontier Constabulary, granting it a new status as the Federal Constabulary.

The President has issued the Frontier Constabulary Reorganization Ordinance 2025. It has transformed the force into a federal entity with authority extending beyond its previous jurisdiction.

The Federal Constabulary, under the ordinance, will now operate across all provinces, Islamabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.

According to new framework, the Inspector General will be appointed by the federal government and each wing commander equivalent to the rank of Deputy Inspector General will lead the division.

The ordinance also contributes in empowering government’s recruit reserve force and to develop new rules and regulations governing the organization’s operations.

According to officials, expanded mandate will not only improve inter-provincial coordination, it will also bolster efforts to combat terrorism and prevent crime on a national scale.
