Ali Fazal reveals missed Bollywood roles due to international work

Bollywood actor Ali Fazal has shared that his commitments to international films have limited his involvement in the Indian film industry, leading to missed opportunities in various local projects.

In a recent interview with an Indian media outlet, Fazal noted that while his work in Hollywood has garnered him global recognition, it has also created a distance from Indian audiences.

“Because of international projects, I lost many Indian films. My co-actors did a great job in them, and I’m happy for that, but yes, I missed out,” he explained.

Fazal has taken on both minor and leading roles in significant Hollywood productions, including appearances in Fast and Furious 7 and Death on the Nile, as well as starring roles in Victoria and Abdul alongside Dame Judi Dench and Kandahar opposite Gerard Butler.

The actor highlighted the challenges of balancing careers in both industries, stating, “My Indian releases get delayed because of my work abroad. Fans often ask why I’m not visible locally, and I understand their concerns.”

Unlike many Bollywood stars pursuing fame in the West, Fazal has remained committed to his craft. “I don’t care about the glamour or the noise. I just want people to see my work globally,” he said, emphasizing his quiet ascent in Hollywood.

Having received critical acclaim for his performance in the Mirzapur web series, Fazal is now refocusing on Hindi cinema.

He was recently seen in Anurag Basu’s romantic drama Metro In Dino, and is set to appear in upcoming projects like Lahore 1947, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and featuring Sunny Deol, Preity Zinta, Shilpa Shetty, and Shabana Azmi.
