Senior leaders of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) held a press conference to outline the current political landscape, party policies, and future strategies, in Lahore.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur announced that a high-level party meeting has finalised a course of action, marking the official launch of their new movement.
Gandapur emphasised that the founder of PTI is the only figure in Pakistan who has authentically led a movement and consistently advocated for the supremacy of the constitution and law.
He dismissed the legal cases against the PTI founder as baseless, arguing that no other political party has faced such treatment in any democracy.
Despite what he described as fascist tactics, Gandapur declared that PTI will not be silenced.
“We will mobilise the public from every street and neighbourhood. When asked where we want to take the country, we say we aim for the rule of law,” he stated.
He further asserted that their peaceful political movement is being forcibly suppressed and that they are denied their constitutional right to protest.
Gandapur reiterated the PTI founder’s willingness to negotiate in the interest of Pakistan, insisting discussions should be held with those in power.
He announced that the PTI founder will personally lead this movement, which he described as a “do or die” situation.
He refuted claims of being unaccountable, stating, “You must answer to the public. If a conspiracy against us is proven, hang me in the square. But if we discuss punishment, then everyone should face consequences.”
Gandapur praised the founder’s tenure for controlling terrorism, establishing peace, and improving the economy.
He criticized the current government for targeting political workers but predicted that their opponents would ultimately retreat.
He declared that the 90-day political movement commenced last night, emphasizing its critical nature. Gandapur stated that the PTI founder will engage transparently with those in authority, asserting, “We have never held secret meetings, nor will we. Our movement is public and constitutional, and we will communicate openly with decision-makers.”
He urged citizens to join the movement for the sake of their children’s future, stating, “We do not want the future of this country’s children to be in bondage.”
Gandapur clarified that August 5 is not a deadline but a pivotal day for the movement. He claimed that despite the government filing numerous cases against them, they have achieved nothing. “We have always followed constitutional paths, and protesting is my legal right that no one can take away.”
He concluded by asserting that the solution to the ongoing political and economic crises lies in transparent elections and constitutional supremacy, marking the PTI’s movement as entering a decisive phase.
Gandapur warned that the coming 90 days will determine whether the people’s rights prevail or if oppression continues.
