Humaira Asghar’s death case takes new turn with court petition

The probe into the death of actress Humaira Asghar Ali has entered a new phase, with fresh legal action and formal complaints adding momentum to the investigation.

A citizen has filed a petition in the Karachi Sessions Court, seeking the registration of a criminal case and alleging that the actress’s death was not natural but a result of homicide. The court has directed all concerned parties to submit their reports by July 16.

According to the petitioner, police have already described the incident as suspicious, while video footage is said to indicate possible foul play. The petitioner also pointed to the family’s decision to sever ties with Humaira, calling it further grounds for suspicion.

The court has been asked to include the family in the investigation and to make the SSP South and SHO Gizri respondents in the case.

Meanwhile, Karachi resident Dr. Syeda Kainat has lodged a complaint through the Prime Minister’s Portal, terming Humaira’s death a premeditated conspiracy.

The complaint alleged that Humaira had been under pressure due to her links with powerful individuals and was forcibly given alcohol and methamphetamine.

According to the complaint, more than eight months had passed since her death, during the time she had reportedly lost contact with close acquaintances.

Police officials noted that the complaint lacked specific evidence or identification of suspects.

However, the Inspector General of Sindh has ordered the allegations to be incorporated into the investigation, and a formal inquiry has been launched.
