Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Thursday strongly condemned what he described as a “misleading propaganda campaign” targeting President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir.
He asserted that the individuals behind this campaign are well known to authorities and are working with the aim of creating distrust among state institutions and pushing the country toward instability.
In a strong statement posted on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Naqvi clarified that there has been no discussion, proposal, or plan regarding President Zardari’s resignation or any suggestion of Army Chief General Asim Munir assuming the presidency.
He emphasised that such claims are entirely baseless.
“The President shares a strong and respectful relationship with the leadership of the Pakistan Armed Forces,” Naqvi added, citing President Zardari’s own remarks: “I know exactly who is spreading these lies, why they are doing it, and who stands to benefit from this malicious campaign.”
Naqvi reiterated that General Asim Munir remains fully focused on strengthening, securing, and stabilising Pakistan, acting solely in the country’s national interest.
Issuing a stern warning to those involved in spreading such narratives, he said: “Those working in collusion with foreign agencies to propagate this agenda can do what they will — we will fulfil our duty. Insha’Allah, we will make Pakistan strong once again.”
