A grim discovery was made in Karachi’s Defence Phase 6 area when the severely decomposed body of model and actress Humaira Asghar was recovered from her apartment.
According to police, the body was found in a flat within the jurisdiction of Gizri police station and was immediately shifted to Jinnah Hospital for post-mortem examination.
Hospital officials said the remains were in an advanced state of decomposition, rendering the face unrecognizable and the organs badly decayed. Forensic teams collected chemical samples during the autopsy to help determine the cause of death, which will only be confirmed after laboratory analysis.
Following the post-mortem, the body was moved to the morgue as police began an extensive investigation, considering all possible circumstances surrounding the death.
Gizri SHO Farooq Sanjrani stated that attempts were made to contact the family of the deceased. While Humaira Asghar’s father was reached, he declined to travel to Karachi, saying he had cut off ties with his daughter years ago. Investigators have since secured the contact details of her brother and are trying to get in touch with him.
Humaira Asghar had worked in modeling and television drama projects. Her lonely death, the appalling condition of her body, and her family’s apparent estrangement have added layers of mystery to the case. Police say more information will be released once inquiries are complete.
