The monsoon rains continue intermittently across various parts of the country.
According to the Met Office, so far, 36 millimeters of rain has been recorded in the federal capital Islamabad, while Lahore has received 26 millimeters and Sheikhupura 23 millimeters.
In Murree, 6 millimeters and in Mandi Bahauddin, 4 millimeters of rainfall have been recorded. The Met Office stated that in most areas, rain is expected to continue intermittently over the next few hours.
Rain has also been forecast today for Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, while heavy downpours are predicted in Murree, Galiyat, and surrounding regions. In the upper areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, intermittent rain is also occurring.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has warned that the water flow in the Hunza and Shigar Rivers in Gilgit-Baltistan is rising, while flooding is feared in the Hispar, Khunjerab, Shimshal, Braldo, Hushe, and Saltoro rivers.
Tourists have been advised to avoid going near streams and to take precautionary measures.
There is also a risk of landslides in Gilgit, Skardu, Hunza, Astore, Diamer, Ghanche, and Shigar. In Muzaffarabad, Neelum Valley, Rawalakot, Haveli, and Bagh, heavy rains could also trigger landslides.
The NDMA has instructed all relevant agencies to ensure advance preparations to handle any potential emergency situation.
According to the Met Office, heavy clouds poured down overnight in most districts of South Punjab, which will benefit cotton and rice crops.
