President Donald Trump has denounced Elon Musk’s plan to establish a new political party, describing the concept as “ridiculous.”
Speaking to reporters before boarding Air Force One, Trump expressed his belief that the US operates within a two-party system and that introducing a third party would only create confusion.
Musk recently announced the formation of the “America Party” on social media, aiming to challenge what he describes as the “Uniparty” of Republicans and Democrats.
Despite their past alliance, tensions have grown between the two figures, particularly over government spending and policies.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump expressed disappointment in Musk’s recent actions, remarking that he has gone “off the rails.”
He specifically criticized Musk’s push for an Electric Vehicle (EV) mandate, which he believes would have forced consumers to buy electric cars too quickly.
Trump’s recent legislation has ended tax incentives for electric vehicles, allowing consumers to choose from a wider range of options, including gasoline and hybrid cars.
As Musk prepares to focus on House and Senate elections over the next year, the evolving dynamic between him and Trump continues to draw public interest.
