The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved a reduction of Rs1.14 per unit in the average base electricity tariff, offering much-needed relief to consumers. The decision has been sent to the federal government for notification and will take effect from July 1, 2025.
According to the decision, the maximum electricity tariff for domestic consumers will be reduced from Rs48.84 to Rs47.69 per unit.
Details show that for households consuming up to 100 units of electricity, the tariff will be reduced by Rs1.15, bringing it down to Rs10.54 per unit.
Similarly, for those consuming between 101 and 200 units, the new tariff has been set at Rs13 per unit. For non-protected domestic consumers using between 100 and 200 units, the rate will be Rs22.44 per unit.
NEPRA stated that the move aims to ease inflationary pressure on the public. The final implementation is subject to the federal government’s approval.
