A federal audit report has revealed extensive financial mismanagement in Balochistan during the fiscal year 2024–2025, exposing irregularities exceeding Rs70 billion.
The findings point to widespread corruption, tax evasion, overpayments, and violations of financial procedures across government departments.
According to the report, these irregularities inflicted a direct loss of Rs3.49 billion on the provincial treasury. Auditors documented 19 cases of tax and duty evasion alone, resulting in losses amounting to Rs13.12 billion.
In addition, 28 cases involved suspicious payments totaling Rs2.76 billion, while irregularities in government spending across 130 cases led to losses exceeding Rs40.75 billion.
The report highlighted that many departments made payments without meeting legal requirements, failed to collect revenues, and spent public funds in clear breach of regulations.
The audit underscored serious deficiencies in financial discipline and a persistent lack of transparency within Balochistan’s government institutions.
