Widespread thunderstorms and rain forecast across Pakistan

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast thunderstorms and rain across various regions of the country, warning of strong winds and shifting weather patterns through the coming days.

According to the PMD, Islamabad is expected to experience thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds and rain.

Similar weather conditions have been forecast for Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cities, including Peshawar, Mardan, Shangla, Kohistan, and Abbottabad are likely to receive rainfall, while Punjab cities of Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, and Rawalpindi may face strong dust-laden winds.

The PMD reports scattered showers across many districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Peshawar has already witnessed light rain, cooling temperatures and bringing temporary relief from the summer heat.

The city recorded a minimum temperature of 27°C, with a maximum potentially reaching 38°C. Humidity levels remained high at 74%, and dust storms are anticipated in plain areas by evening.

Thunderstorms and rainfall are also expected in upper areas, including Upper Dir, Swat, Chitral, Upper Kohistan, Malakand, and Hazara Division, as well as in southern districts like D.I. Khan, Bannu, and Kohat.

In Sindh, thunderstorms accompanied by dust storms are expected in several areas.

Meteorologists warn of sudden weather changes, particularly in urban centers such as Karachi and Hyderabad, though rainfall will likely remain scattered.

Balochistan is forecast to remain predominantly dry and hot. Notable temperature highs include: Turbat (47°C), Sibi (46°C), Nokundi (44°C), Chaman (39°C), Quetta (35°C), Ziarat (28°C), Zhob (38°C), Gwadar (34°C), Jiwani (32°C).

The extreme heat, coupled with dust-laden winds, is expected to persist, especially in the southern and western parts of the province.
