Heatstroke cases rise across Punjab as temperatures soar

A considerable increase in the number of heatstroke cases has been witnessed in Punjab in recent days amid a hike in temperature.

According to the provincial health department, a total of 67 individuals have received medical treatment for heat-related illnesses at government hospitals between June 1 and June 10.

Lahore has reported the highest number of cases, with 29 patients admitted to Outpatient Departments (OPDs). Bahawalpur followed with 26 cases, while Kasur reported 8, Gujrat 3, and Sialkot 1 case, respectively.

Health officials confirm that medical assistance is being provided to all affected patients at public healthcare facilities.

The Meteorological Department has forecast continued hot and dry weather across the plains in the next 24 hours, with temperatures expected to rise 7°C above normal levels.

Medical experts are advising the public to avoid outdoor activities between 11 am and 4 pm, increase water intake, and keep their heads covered when exposed to direct sunlight.
