The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved an increase of Rs0.93 per unit in electricity prices for consumers across the country, while granting a reduction of Rs2.99 per unit for K-Electric (KE) consumers in Karachi.
According to the official notification issued by NEPRA, the increase has been made under the head of monthly fuel cost adjustment (FCA) for April. The revised tariff will be reflected in electricity bills for the month of June. However, the increase will not apply to K-Electric consumers, lifeline users, or electric vehicle charging stations.
In a separate notification, NEPRA also approved a Rs2.99 per unit reduction in power tariff for K-Electric consumers. This relief is part of the monthly fuel cost adjustment for March and will also be applied in June bills.
The differential adjustment highlights NEPRA’s policy of regional pricing based on varying energy procurement and fuel mix costs, while offering limited exemptions to vulnerable consumer categories.
