Regional Patrolling Officer(RPO), Saleem Khan Niazi, on Wednesday announced a comprehensive security and patrolling plan for Eid ul-Adha to prevent cattle theft and ensure traffic management across Punjab’s highways.
According to the plan, the Punjab Highway Patrol(PHP) police will maintain strict security around Eidgahs, mosques, and Imambargahs during Eid ul-Adha prayers.
With the increase in transportation of sacrificial animals, special arrangements have been made to manage traffic congestion and avoid accidents.
Patrolling teams will inspect vehicles carrying animals to verify documentation and transit permits in a bid to prevent theft and illegal transportation.
Checkpoints were being set up at key locations to take legal action against suspicious and criminal elements.
The patrolling police will remain active around the clock to assist and guide citizens.
Citizens have been advised to follow SOPs while buying and selling sacrificial animals.
For assistance, they can call the helpline 1124.
RPO also warned transporters against charging excessive fares.
He said that a crackdown was underway and legal action would be taken against violators during the Eid ul-Adha holidays.
