Karachi continues to reel under a surge in violent street crimes, with armed robbers killing at least 45 citizens during robberies in the first 138 days of 2025. In the past week alone, six people were gunned down in separate incidents across the metropolis, reflecting a disturbing rise in fatal encounters during looting.
According to reports, the month-wise breakdown shows that five people were killed in January, 10 in February, nine in March, and another 10 in April. The current month has already witnessed 10 more killings linked to street crimes.

The alarming frequency and fatality of such incidents have heightened public fear and raised serious questions over the city’s deteriorating law and order situation. Despite repeated appeals from citizens, meaningful and sustained police action against street criminals remains elusive.
Public safety advocates and residents have urged the provincial government and law enforcement agencies to step up patrols, deploy intelligence-based operations, and strengthen the judicial process to ensure swift punishment for those involved in street crime and killings.
