Youm-e-Tashakur is being observed nationwide today to commemorate the historic victory of Marka-e-Haq and to honor the bravery of Pakistan’s armed forces and the unwavering spirit of its people.
The day began with the recitation of the Holy Quran and special prayers offered in mosques across the country.
A 31-gun salute was fired in the federal capital, Islamabad, while 21-gun salutes marked the occasion in provincial capitals.
A 21-gun salute was given in Lahore, Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed Stadium in Peshawar and Gilgit.
The day commenced after Fajr prayers in mosques, where special prayers were offered for Pakistan’s stability, development, and prosperity, as well as for the freedom of occupied Kashmir in the whole country.
Religious scholars, citizens, and army personnel gathered in mosques and reaffirmed their commitment to thwart any hostile intentions against the nation.
Corps Commander Lahore (IV Corps), Lieutenant General Syed Fayyaz Hussain Shah, visited the mausoleum of Allama Muhammad Iqbal, the Poet of the East and Thinker of Pakistan, as part of the Youm-e-Tashakur (Day of Thanksgiving) celebrations.
Change of guard ceremony will be held at the mausoleums of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
Flag hoisting ceremonies will also be held in both federal and provincial capitals.
Last week, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that Youm-e-Marka-e-Haq will be observed annually on May 10 to commemorate the outstanding success of Operation Bunyan um Marsoos, which effectively repelled Indian aggression.
Also, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) celebrated the nation’s “historic success” in Operation Bunyanun Marsoos in all special in-flights.
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Friday hoisted the national flag at the PM House to mark Youm-e-Tashakur (Thanksgiving Day).
“Our Shaheens hammered the enemy and gave it a befitting reply,” he said adding the brave and professional armed forces of Pakistan effectively and fully responded in the language of the enemy and wrote a golden chapter in the military history and foiled the designs of the enemy.
The main event is scheduled for tonight at the Pakistan Monument in Islamabad, where Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will attend as the chief guest.
The Chief of Army Staff and the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee will also participate in the ceremony.
