The Director Generals of Military Operations (DGMOs) of Pakistan and India held the first round of talks via hotline today to discuss details of the May 10 ceasefire decision, according to sources.
Pakistan Army’s DGMO Major General Kashif Abdullah and India’s DGMO Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai held a conversation that lasted approximately 45 minutes.
According to security sources, important matters related to the declared ceasefire between the two countries were discussed during the hotline contact, while both sides agreed to continue routine weekly communication and dialogue.
A ceasefire brokered by the US between India and Pakistan has largely held since the evening of May 10.
In addition to the hotline contact, sources disclosed that direct negotiations between Pakistan and India are also expected. These talks will likely take place in a third country, with Saudi Arabia being a potential host.
Sources added that the national security advisors and diplomatic officials of both nations are actively coordinating to finalise the time and venue of the proposed talks.
The two sides also engaged in a hotline conversation on the afternoon of May 10, during which they agreed on an immediate ceasefire, sources confirmed.
