Pakistan’s three armed forces have briefed the international media on the Pahalgam incident and India’s aggression against Pakistan in a press conference on Friday. DG ISPR exposed Indian conspiracy and acts of violence against Pakistan, targeting innocent civilians and conspiring terror activities in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Lt. General Ahmad Sharif Chaudhry opened the briefing. He raised serious questions for the international media by providing facts and solid evidence against India, plotting fake operation in Pahalgam and blaming Pakistan for that.
He began by talking about the Pahalgam incident when 26 Indian tourists were killed at the Baisiran resort in Pahalgam in the Indian-held Kashmir on April 22.
Lt. Gen Sharif said that India has failed to provide any evidence of Pakistan’s involvement in the attack despite India media and a police FIR claiming that the country was behind it.
Referring to the immediate Indian media narrative following the Pahalgam incident, Lt Gen Chaudhry questioned how New Delhi was able to identify the alleged perpetrators within minutes, despite having no concrete evidence. “Is this the first time India is doing this? There is a history to it,” he said.
DG ISPR further added that “How did the Indian government jump to the conclusion regarding who the attackers were within 10 minutes of the incident? When you don’t have any evidence, what do you do? You open up the military front.”
He said that India was using baseless accusations against Pakistan to mask its own failures and shift public attention. He also condemned India for launching attacks on Pakistan and targeting civilians, including women and children, calling such actions part of a broader pattern of hostility.
DG ISPR claimed that during the Pahalgam incident, instructions were issued to terrorist organisations allegedly “sponsored and abetted” by India to escalate militant operations within Pakistan.
He said that India possesses “no evidence” to support its allegations of Pakistan’s involvement in the Pahalgam incident or the supposed attacks in Indian territory over the past 48 hours.
“You just concoct stories. I think the time has come to ask the real and bitter questions that Indian government needs to stop living in cinema and theatrics,” the DG ISPR stated during his media briefing.
DG ISPR further said that India was deliberately attempting to create instability along Pakistan’s eastern border in order to disrupt Islamabad’s counterterrorism operations. “India’s attempts to promote volatility at the eastern border were aimed at distracting Pakistan’s counterterrorism efforts because the objectives of this incident are to provide space to the terrorists sponsored by India who are operating along the western border, such as the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan or terrorist groups in Balochistan,” he stated.
DG ISPR added that terror camps operating within India were actively fuelling militancy in Pakistan. During the briefing, he presented video confessions of captured militants who admitted to being in contact with and receiving support from Indian handlers. “The terrorist leaders who surrendered tell us about how India supports terrorism in Pakistan,” he said. “India is supporting terrorism in Pakistan on a daily basis.”
To substantiate the claim, the military spokesperson presented video evidence of confessional statements by previously arrested militants. According to DG ISPR, these individuals admitted to being in contact with Indian handlers and receiving direct support from across the border.
He said that “dozens of evidence” is available for the “horrific stories” of Indian-sponsored terrorism in Pakistan. He asserted, “For each and every incident we can tell you how the Indian hand was involved.”
Declaring that Pakistan is the “last bulwark” against terrorism emanating from and being sponsored by India, the DG ISPR issued a stern warning to New Delhi. In an apparent reference to Indian claims of cross-border strikes, he said, “If you are so fond of Pakistan firing at you, we will fulfil your demand at a time, place and means of our choosing.”
He also pointed out India’s alleged involvement in transnational terrorism, referring to tensions with countries like Canada and the United States over accusations of Indian-sponsored killings abroad. “The DG ISPR has pointed out India’s involvement in transitional terrorism and killings not only in Pakistan but also in Canada and the United States,” he said.
He further reiterated that India’s involvement in terrorism is not restricted to Pakistan alone but extends to incidents in other countries such as Canada and the United States, referencing earlier frictions over targeted killings and transnational plots.
Questioning India’s allegations of Pakistani incursions or drone activity, he challenged New Delhi: “Show the debris of at least [one downed] Pakistani aircraft or drone that Pakistan has fired.”
Calling out Indian media narratives, he said, “The Indian media’s claims were a shame and a mockery of journalism,” while also criticising India for shutting down news outlets and blocking access to platforms like X. “You don’t have the capacity, patience and morality to listen to the truth,” he remarked.
The DG ISPR further revealed that 77 Israeli drones sent by India have been neutralised so far. “We are taking each one of them out. Not one of them has been able to go back to India and not one of them will be able to go back,” he added.
Responding to a question about backchannel talks, he said, “I can confirm that no such [direct] communication has taken place” between the national security advisers of Pakistan and India. “As for indirect communication, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs can give a better answer as all such diplomatic efforts are handled by them.”
Urging international media to avoid relying solely on Indian sources, he said, “India has become a disinformation and misinformation churning machine.”
Amid recent Indian attacks, the DG ISPR said that 33 civilians have been martyred and 62 injured as of May 9. He confirmed about the soldiers that “there are injuries, but not any martyrdom on our side” among Pakistani soldiers.
Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry advised the Indian government to “have some sense” and behave responsibly as a neighbour.
In a strongly worded message, he said the first step should be to “put some sense” into those harbouring hubris. “The first and foremost thing is to tell them that don’t externalise your internal problems and don’t internalise your external problems,” he stated.
He suggested that friendly neighbouring countries could work together to stabilise the region. “Friendly countries in the neighbourhood can help the situation and jointly counter this regional threat,” he said.
Addressing India directly, Lt Gen Chaudhry added, “Have some sense. And don’t try to act like a regional hegemon, you are not and respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of other states. Live like a responsible state.”
