Death toll from Indian attacks rises to over 26 civilians martyed, 46 injured

The death toll from Indian airstrikes in Pakistan and Pakistani Kashmir has increased to 26 people martyed and 46 injured, said ISPR DG Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhary.

Lt Gen Sharif had earlier put the numbers are 8 martyed and 35 injured when he held a press briefing in the wee hours of Wednesday.

The military spokesperson held a second briefing later in the day and told reporters that 26 civilian had died.

Lt Gen also revealed that India had targeted civilian infrastructure, including a power project.

He emphasized that no Pakistani aircraft entered Indian airspace during the conflict, ensuring the safety of all military assets.

India launched a series of nighttime attacks across several locations in Pakistan, resulting in significant civilian casualties.

According to the DG ISPR, among the most severely impacted was the Subhasnallah Mosque in Ahmedpur East, where seven women and four men were injured. The Bilal Mosque near Muzaffarabad was also attacked, resulting in three fatalities, including a girl and a boy, he said.

In Kotli, the Abbas Mosque was targeted, injuring a 16-year-old girl and a 19-year-old boy, along with a mother and daughter. The Ummar Mosque in Mureed also suffered casualties among men.

While no injuries were reported in Sialkot and Shakargarh, a pharmacy was damaged due to the ongoing conflict. Additionally, fire from the Line of Control (LoC) led to the deaths of five individuals, including a five-year-old child.

In response to these provocations, the Pakistan Armed Forces launched a counteroffensive, successfully downing three Rafale jets, one MiG-29, a Su-30, and one drone. These Indian assets were targeted in various regions, including Bhatinda, Jammu, Awantipur, Akhnoor, and Srinagar.

The DG ISPR highlighted that India has not only attacked civilian structures but has also targeted mosques and the Neelum-Jhelum power project, aiming to damage Pakistan’s water resources. Significant damage has been inflicted on the hydroelectric plant.

He noted that the targeting of mosques reflects a narrow-minded ideology that has grown under Modi’s government, which suppresses minorities—especially Muslims—and infringes on their religious freedoms.

Importantly, no military installations in Pakistan have been attacked, despite India’s concerns about potential retaliation. The spokesperson for the Pakistan Army confirmed that in response to Indian aggression, Pakistan has successfully shot down five Indian aircraft, including a compact Heron drone, three Rafale jets, one MiG-21, and one Sukhoi.

Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry asserted that Pakistan will not tolerate attacks on its integrity and sovereignty.

He reiterated that Pakistan’s actions are solely in self-defense, while India continues to target innocent civilians. He added that as much as India fears death, Pakistan yearns for martyrdom.

The situation remains tense as both nations navigate this critical juncture in their longstanding conflict.
