Markazi Jamiat Ahl-e-Hadith head, Professor Sajid Mir, passes away at 87

The head of Markazi Jamiat Ahl-e-Hadith Pakistan, Professor Sajid Mir, passed away at the age of 87.

His funeral prayer was held on Saturday night in his hometown, Sialkot.

He died at his residence in Sialkot, where he had been unwell for the past month. Sources say he recently underwent spinal surgery and had a heart stent placed a decade ago.

Who was Sajid Mir?

  • He was born in Sialkot in 1938.
  • Professor Sajid Mir led the Jamiat Ahl-e-Hadith for over 40 years and was considered a key figure of the Ahl-e-Hadith school of thought.
  • He was elected to the Senate of Pakistan five times, where he was known for his balanced views, honesty, and religious dignity.
  • He had two sons, a daughter, and his wife.
  • A close associate of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, he was also highly respected in academic and intellectual circles.
