The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has announced new operational guidelines aimed at enhancing data security and reducing fraud related to Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs).
Effective immediately, citizens visiting NADRA centers are required to present only original documents, as photocopies will no longer be accepted for routine processes such as B-Forms and registration certificates.
NADRA clarified that referencing or guaranteeing with another person’s CNIC is now deemed legally invalid.
This initiative is part of NADRA’s ongoing efforts to improve transparency and combat identity fraud.
Clear signage detailing the updated procedures has been installed at all NADRA centers nationwide.
In a related advisory, NADRA warned the public against unnecessary photocopying of CNICs, citing rising concerns over fraudulent schemes where criminals impersonate officials to collect personal data through fake prize offers or incentives.
The authority cautioned that sharing CNICs or personal information informally can lead to identity theft and financial fraud.
Citizens are urged to adhere to the following guidelines:
Bring only original documents when visiting NADRA offices.
Avoid submitting CNIC photocopies unless legally required.
Never share CNICs or personal information in informal settings.
Report any suspicious activity to NADRA or law enforcement.
