Joy in Sindh as Canal project is rejected

A wave of celebration swept across Sindh following the rejection of the canal extraction plan from the Indus River by the Council of Common Interests.

In Hyderabad, activists from the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) gathered at Haider Chowk to celebrate, featuring a vibrant fireworks display and chanting slogans in support of the party.

The gathering highlighted their joy over the cancellation of the canal project, with many expressing their happiness through dance.

In parallel, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah urged participants of the ongoing sit-in at Baberlo Bypass to conclude their protest.

During a media briefing, he remarked, “The protesters have halted traffic on the national highway for 10 to 12 days, but we refrained from taking any action against them as their cause was valid.

Those spreading hatred have failed; it is time to end the protests.“

The sit-in, involving lawyers and other groups, has now entered its twelfth day. The closure of the national highway has left thousands of freight vehicles stranded, causing perishable goods, including vegetables, to spoil.
