The Directorate General of Customs Valuation in Karachi has established new customs values for the import of 187 different types of Apple iPhones, including the recently released iPhone 16. This announcement was made on Friday with the issuance of Valuation Ruling 1909 of 2025.

The decision followed a request from the Collectorate of Customs (Airport) in Islamabad and various representations from stakeholders advocating for a revision of the existing Valuation Ruling to include the latest iPhone models.

The previous ruling had been in effect for over a year and did not reflect current international market conditions. Additionally, some older models had reached their End of Life (EOL) status, necessitating consideration for depreciation.

To determine the new customs values, the Directorate analyzed import data, current market trends, and discrepancies between market prices and existing customs values, in accordance with Sections 25 and 25A of the Customs Act, 1969.

Multiple meetings were held with relevant stakeholders to discuss the customs values. Stakeholders argued for the inclusion of values for the latest iPhone 16 models and sought depreciation for older versions. Their feedback was carefully considered for the determination of customs values under Section 25A of the Customs Act, 1969.

Stakeholders were asked to provide relevant import documents to support their claims. The Directorate reviewed 90 days’ worth of data to establish the customs values for the specified goods. The finalized transaction values will serve as the basis for assessing duties and taxes, detailed in Annexure-I, which includes five pages listing items numbered 01 to 187.
