Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch has arrived in Dhaka ahead of the long-awaited Pakistan-Bangladesh bilateral political consultations, set to take place on Thursday after a 13-year hiatus. She was received by Bangladesh’s Director General for South Asia, Ishrat Jahan.
Both countries’ foreign secretaries will lead their respective delegations in the talks, which aim to revive diplomatic engagement between the two South Asian nations.
The consultations are expected to cover a wide range of topics including bilateral ties, regional developments, and enhanced cooperation in various sectors.
The last political consultation between the two countries took place in 2012. The resumption of this dialogue is being seen as a significant step toward improving Pakistan-Bangladesh relations.
Following the talks, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar is scheduled to visit Bangladesh from April 22 to 24 to further boost economic and political cooperation between the two nations.
Diplomatic sources express optimism that these engagements will pave the way for a stronger, more collaborative relationship.
