An attack by unidentified individuals on an international food chain outlet in Karachi’s Korangi Industrial Area created panic in the locality late Thursday. Police responded swiftly, arresting several suspects involved in the incident.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Korangi, Tariq Nawaz, and SHO of the Korangi Industrial Area, both officers rushed to the scene immediately after receiving reports of the attack.
SSP Nawaz confirmed that police carried out a strong baton charge to disperse the attackers, resulting in the arrest of at least 10 individuals, with over six apprehended on the spot.
He praised the prompt and calm response of the police mobile unit stationed outside the restaurant, noting that a sub-inspector managed to engage the attackers in dialogue, which helped prevent further escalation.
Police officials said that investigations are underway to determine the motive behind the attack, and those in custody are being interrogated. Thanks to timely intervention, any major damage to the restaurant was averted, and the situation is currently under control.
