The Khyber Pakhutnkhwa government has launched the ‘Solarisation of Houses’ project to promote renewable energy and lower the cost of electricity production by conventional means.
The provincial government has allocated Rs20 billion for the project. It has received as many as 2,538,000 applications.
Here are the features of the project
Selection of deserving families by electronic balloting
Solar units include plates, battery, fans, lights and other essential items
Project would cover 130,000 houses
30,000 houses will be chosen from merged districts
In the first phase, 32,500 deserving families will be given free solar units
65,000 houses will be given free units while the remaining will be given units on easy installments
According to the government, it would reduce electricity bills, reduce pressure on the national grid, and promote environment-friendly energy.
