PM Shehbaz: Business community is nation’s asset, drives economy

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has called the business community the backbone of Pakistan’s economy, emphasising that economic progress and employment generation are directly linked to their efforts.

A delegation of leading business figures met the prime minister, expressing full confidence in his leadership and appreciating government policies that foster a business-friendly environment.

Welcoming the delegation, PM Shehbaz acknowledged their role in national economic growth, particularly during challenging times.

“Your investments have kept the wheels of the economy turning and provided jobs to countless people,” he said.

He assured them that the government would continue economic reforms with their consultation.

He highlighted that inflation and interest rates had dropped significantly, and the government was ensuring a favorable climate for investment.

“The journey of investment begins with local investors,” he said, adding that Pakistan’s trade officers abroad had been given clear targets to boost exports.

Business leaders praised the establishment of the National Seed Development Authority to ensure quality seeds for agricultural growth and lauded the Green Pakistan Initiative.

They also acknowledged the rapid progress of Pakistan’s IT industry due to government policies.

During the meeting, the prime minister instructed all relevant ministries to engage with industry representatives for consultations.

Prominent figures in the delegation included Gohar Ejaz, Yawar Ali, Atif Sheikh, Fawad Mukhtar, Shahid Hussain, S.M. Tanveer, Mian Ahsan, Saleem Ghauri, Shehzad Malik, Usman Malik, Atif Inam, and Shehzad Asghar.
