The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has directed the additional attorney general (AAG) to provide the federal government with documentary assistance regarding a petition seeking the release and repatriation of Dr Aafia Siddiqui.
Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan presided over the hearing, where petitioner’s counsel Imran Shafiq, AAG, and court-appointed amicus curiae Zainab Janjua were present.
During the proceedings, Justice Ishaq remarked, “I cannot imagine the federal government rejecting the assistance of the Attorney General’s Office.”
He instructed the AAG to submit a response to lawyer Clive Smith’s declaration by Thursday and to ensure that a copy is provided to the court.
