Anti-bullying activist Monica Lewinsky stated that the former US president should have resigned from office at the time after their affair.
In a “Call Her Daddy” podcast with host Alex Cooper, Lewinsky stated that the media and the White House should have handled the matter once the news broke.
“I think that the right way to handle a situation like that would have been to probably say it was nobody’s business and to resign,” Lewinsky said.
Lewinsky expressed to Cooper that she believed many young women were affected by the way she was treated during the political scandal.
“I think there was so much collateral damage for women of my generation to watch a young woman be pilloried on a world stage – to be torn apart for my sexuality, for my mistakes, for my everything.”

Lewinsky endured intense media scrutiny following the revelation of her affair with Clinton, recalling on the podcast that she was depicted as a “stalker”.
In 1998, Clinton infamously denied the affair, stating that he “did not have sexual relations with that woman.”
Although he was impeached by the House, he was acquitted by the Senate and continued to serve in office.
At the time their relationship began, Lewinsky was 22 years old, while Clinton was 49.
