The three-day Urs celebrations of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar have officially commenced in Sehwan, drawing millions of devotees from across Pakistan.
Strict security measures have been put in place to ensure the safety of attendees.
Acting Governor of Sindh and Speaker of the Sindh Assembly, Syed Owais Qadir Shah, inaugurated the Urs by laying a floral wreath at the saint’s shrine and offering prayers.
Devotees from all over the country are paying their respects by offering floral wreaths and performing the traditional “dhamal” at the shrine.
The annual event is expected to see a massive influx of visitors.

To maintain security, over 5,000 police personnel and 300 Rangers have been deployed, while CCTV cameras are monitoring all entry and exit points of the shrine and its surroundings.
According to Deputy Commissioner Jamshoro, Ghazanfar Qadri, special security measures will remain in place until February 19.
During the three-day celebrations, high-profile figures, including the Sindh Governor and Chief Minister, will visit the shrine.
The event will also feature traditional wrestling, literary conferences, storytelling sessions, and a handicrafts exhibition for visitors.
