American actress Christy Carlson Romano was “shot in the eye” sustained during a recent shooting trip.

The former star of Even Stevens revealed on Instagram that she was hospitalised after being shot in the face multiple times on February 7. The incident occurred while she was celebrating her husband Brendan Rooney’s 42nd birthday in Austin, Texas.

Romano, 40, shared a video showcasing her injuries to her right eye and forehead, explaining, “I took him to shoot clay pigeons as a gift.”

She noted that another group was present and accidentally fired in an unsafe direction, resulting in her injuries. Romano’s fans and followers are rallying around her as she heals from this traumatic experience.

After being struck in five places, including one near her right eye, Romano praised her husband for “immediately springing into action” and rushing her to the hospital.

In her update, she revealed that a fragment remains lodged behind her eye, making surgical removal “too risky at this time.” But she assured fans that her vision was normal and that doctors would continue to monitor her condition.

While expressing her love for her family and friends, the actress reflected on the harrowing experience, stating, “I saw my life flash before my eyes.” She emphasised the importance of cherishing loved ones and urged others to “hug the people around you every chance you can. Life can change in an instant.”

Romano also took a moment to thank the medical staff and first responders who assisted her, describing them as “amazing, superhero-like people” who provide care in desperate times.
