Punjab issues weather alert as rain, snowfall expected from Feb 8 to 10
The Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority has issued a weather alert forecasting rain and snowfall in the upper parts of the province from February 8 to 10.
According to the PDMA, rain is expected in most districts, while Murree, Galiyat, and surrounding areas are likely to receive snowfall and rain between February 9 and 10.
Lahore is also expected to experience rain accompanied by dense cloud cover during the same period. Southern Punjab districts may witness rain and hailstorms.
Rain is likely in Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Sargodha, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Layyah, Dera Ghazi Khan, Khushab, Jhang, Noorpur Thal, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, and Sialkot.
PDMA said alerts had been issued to local governments, health departments, Rescue 1122, police, and transport authorities.
Director General PDMA said all arrangements were being finalised in line with the chief minister’s directives. Emergency control rooms will remain operational around the clock, while disaster response teams have been placed on high alert.
Citizens were advised to avoid unnecessary travel during bad weather. Tourists visiting Murree were urged to follow official instructions and take safety precautions.
Drivers were also advised to avoid speeding and sudden braking on slippery roads.
