Three police officers were martyred and two others injured when unidentified men opened fire on a police mobile on Sariab Road in Quetta on Saturday, police said.

According to officials, the assailants fled the scene after the attack.

The bodies of the three slain officers were shifted to Civil Hospital Quetta, while the injured personnel are being provided medical treatment.

Following the incident, an emergency was declared at both Civil Hospital and Bolan Medical Complex (BMC).

The sources said staff leave at both hospitals has been cancelled, and strict security arrangements have been put in place.

Police and other law enforcement agencies have cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to trace the attackers.
