New weather system set to unleash more rain, snowfall across country

Amid a cold wave gripping the country, a new, powerful weather system bringing rain and snowfall is expected to enter the country today (Monday).

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), another spell of westerly winds will move into the country on Monday, triggering a fresh round of rain and snowfall from tonight.

Under the influence of the new system, rain and snowfall are expected in Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The PMD has also forecast rain and snowfall in several parts of Punjab, including Murree, Galiyat, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Lahore.

Additionally, rainfall is likely in various areas of Sindh between January 25 and 26.

Meanwhile, the PMD has forecast further rain and snowfall in Balochistan from tonight until January 27.

From today through January 27, different parts of the province are expected to receive rain and snow.

Moderate rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms is expected in Quetta, Gwadar, Jiwani, Pasni, Ormara, Khuzdar, Kech, Turbat, Chagai, Taftan, Nokundi, Dalbandin, Panjgur, Kalat, Washuk, Surab, Zhob, Mastung, Kharan, Qila Saifullah, Noshki, Loralai, Musa Khel, and Awaran.

Heavy rainfall may occur at isolated locations in Jiwani, Pasni, Khuzdar, Awaran, Chagai, Panjgur, and Kech, while light rain is expected in Kachhi, Sibi, Ziarat, Harnai, Duki, Loralai, and Lasbela.

The PMD has also forecast snowfall in Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Harmazai, Khanozai, and Kan Mehtarzai.

Light to moderate snowfall accompanied by strong winds is expected in Muslim Bagh, Loyi Band, Qila Abdullah, Gulistan, and Dobandi.

Due to the risk of heavy rainfall, the PMD has warned of possible flash flooding in urban streams and mountainous areas of Gwadar, Jiwani, Pasni, Awaran, Chagai, and Kech.

Local administrations and relevant departments have been advised to complete necessary precautionary measures.
