PM Shehbaz, Field Marshal Asim Munir draw global attention at Davos

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir have emerged as key focuses of global leaders at the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting in Davos, where both are representing Pakistan and holding a series of informal and bilateral engagements.

The 56th annual World Economic Forum is underway in Davos, Switzerland, with heads of state, government leaders, and senior representatives of international organisations and global companies in attendance.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir are representing Pakistan at the forum.

Both leaders have been holding informal and cordial meetings with various international figures on the sidelines of the gathering.

During the forum, the prime minister and field marshal met with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

They also attended the special address delivered by US President Donald Trump at the World Economic Forum.

On the sidelines of the event, Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir held meetings with Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev and Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan.

The prime minister also met IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva.

Discussions focused on challenges faced by emerging economies and cooperation for economic stability.

Shehbaz Sharif briefed the IMF chief on improvements in Pakistan’s macroeconomic indicators, fiscal discipline, institutional reforms and commitment to sustainable development.

Kristalina Georgieva acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts toward economic improvement and stressed the importance of maintaining momentum on long-term economic reforms.

In addition, the prime minister is scheduled to hold further informal and bilateral meetings with global leaders, focusing on economic cooperation, regional stability and joint global initiatives, aimed at highlighting Pakistan’s active international role and commitment to constructive dialogue.
