Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said the Sindh government is taking effective and notable measures in the sectors of health, education, social protection and rehabilitation, despite facing multiple challenges.

Addressing a ceremony in Islamabad on Thursday on the performance of the Sindh government and its future roadmap, Bilawal said the PPP came into power with a strong public mandate and has focused on improving governance across the province through a well-planned strategy.

He said public service remains the top priority of the Sindh government, adding that although the party faced major challenges after assuming office, these were addressed through effective planning and policy implementation.

Highlighting progress in the health sector, Bilawal said that special attention had been given to strengthening healthcare services in Sindh.

He noted that for the first time in Paksitan the province introduced CyberKnife technology for cancer treatment and upgraded the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre to world standards.

He added that world-class healthcare facilities are being provided free of cost to the public in Sindh, including expensive treatments such as cancer care.

The PPP chairman said that 11 hospitals based on the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) model have been established across the province, where more than 2.9 million patients received treatment in a single year.

He said that cardiac patients were being provided free treatment at these facilities, whereas in the past, patients from interior Sindh had to travel long distances for medical care.

Speaking about education, Bilawal said significant steps have also been taken to improve the sector.

He stated that Sindh currently has 30 universities, compared to only 10 in 2008.

He added that Gambat Medical College was established in 2017, and 100,000 teachers were recruited on merit.

Referring to the devastating floods of 2022, Bilawal said that Sindh faced one of the worst natural disasters in its history, which damaged thousands of schools and destroyed 2.1 million homes.

He said the largest housing project in the province’s history was launched after the floods, with construction of 2.1 million homes currently underway for affected families.

He added that the Sindh government received full support from the federal government and the prime minister during the recovery process.

Bilawal further said poverty alleviation programmes have been launched in Sindh, while the Benazir Income Support Programme remains a major federal-level social protection initiative, which the PPP takes pride in.

He noted that a large number of patients being treated at Gambat Hospital come from other provinces, reflecting public trust in Sindh’s healthcare system.

Bilawal said the Sindh government will continue taking steps to improve all sectors and reaffirmed the party’s commitment to public service in the future.
