PTI halts Islamabad local govt election nominations
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has taken a significant administrative decision regarding local government elections in Islamabad by withdrawing the notification for the formation of its parliamentary board.
According to party sources, the notification had been issued on December 27 and has now been officially cancelled.
With this step, the process of nominating candidates for the local elections has also been put on hold.
The party said the decision came after thoughtful discussions and careful consideration of the current situation.
“With the notification now pulled back, PTI is likely to revisit its strategy for the Islamabad local elections, and a new plan could be shared in the coming days.”
Political observers say that pausing the formation of the parliamentary board and putting candidate nominations on hold shows that the party leadership wants to take a closer look at its preparations and internal organisation before moving forward with the elections.
The PTI leadership has not publicly provided detailed reasons for the decision. However, party insiders say that new procedures are being considered in light of the political situation in Islamabad and the requirements of the upcoming local elections.
