The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Friday prohibited the use of government machinery and resources in political rallies, long marches, and public gatherings.

The decision came after a petition challenged the alleged misuse of state assets by the provincial government during political events.

Justice Sahibzada Asadullah, issuing a four-page written judgement, stated that the use of official machinery and resources for political purposes violates the code of conduct.

The court directed both the provincial government and political parties to strictly refrain from such practices in future events.

The petition had claimed that the provincial government used government machinery during rallies and million marches, with some equipment reportedly seized in Islamabad during these events. The court concurred that such actions contravene ethical and legal standards.

The High Court dismissed the petition after imposing a ban on the use of government machinery and resources for political purposes, emphasising the need for all political stakeholders to adhere to established rules and maintain the integrity of public resources.
