The Lahore High Court Bar Association on Thursday announced its decision to challenge the 27th Constitutional Amendment in the Supreme Court, passing a unanimous resolution during a general house meeting.

In an official statement, the association said it would follow the precedent set during the 26th Amendment challenge, taking the matter directly to the apex court.

The Bar Association questioned the authority of the current parliament, calling it “controversial” and claiming it did not have the mandate to enact constitutional changes.

The resolution, approved unanimously in the General House, emphasised that the 27th amendment raises serious constitutional concerns and must be scrutinised by the Supreme Court to ensure compliance with the law and the Constitution.
