PTI plans resolution in NA over hurdles in meeting founder
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi on Wednesday said that a resolution would be tabled in parliament over hurdles being created in meetings with the PTI founder.
Speaking to the media outside parliament, Afridi said that court orders allowing the meeting with the PTI founder were not being implemented.
“I am pursuing a democratic path; meeting my leader is my right,” he said, adding that the proposed 27th Constitutional Amendment was “an attack on provincial autonomy.”
Responding to a question, the chief minister said that he had come to Islamabad to attend the parliamentary party meeting of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
The chief minister vowed to resist any attempts to weaken democracy, saying, “Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has rendered great sacrifices for Pakistan, and our rightful share in the NFC Award is 19.4 per cent.”
Meanwhile, the PTI parliamentary party approved a resolution recommending that Chief Minister Sohail Afridi be allowed to meet the party’s founder.
The resolution, signed by PTI lawmakers, called on the federal and Punjab governments to arrange the meeting.
