PM, President discuss AJK government formation, power-sharing formula
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari held an important meeting at the President House on Thursday to discuss the political situation in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and the future power-sharing formula between coalition partners, well-placed sources said.
According to sources, the meeting took place in a cordial atmosphere and focused on upcoming political developments in AJK, where a change in government is reportedly under consideration.
The two leaders also discussed the broader political landscape and agreed to promote national stability and inter-party cooperation.
The meeting was attended by Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, former prime minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Senator Sherry Rehman, Syed Naveed Qamar, and Rana Sanaullah.
Sources added that detailed consultations were held on the government’s future strategy and the proposed power-sharing formula between allied parties.
Following the meeting, PM Shehbaz Sharif departed from the President House.
Political observers believe that key decisions regarding a possible political transition in AJK are expected soon in light of Thursday’s high-level discussions.
