Pakistan seeks deeper ties with China in trade, agriculture, IT and mining

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation with China across multiple sectors, including industry, agriculture, trade, information and communication technology (ICT), mining, and minerals.

The prime minister made these remarks during a meeting with China’s Minister of Industry and Information Technology, Li Lecheng, in Beijing.

Shehbaz Sharif described the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) as the central pillar of Pakistan’s socio-economic development and expressed satisfaction over the steady progress of its second phase.

He reaffirmed Pakistan’s vision of advancing the partnership to deliver tangible benefits for both nations.

Acknowledging the prime minister’s economic reform agenda, Minister Li stressed that China views Pakistan as an “ironclad brother” and an “All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partner.”

He assured that Beijing remains firmly committed to elevating bilateral relations to new heights of cooperation and collaboration.
