Authorities in Sindh have warned of a possible flood in the Indus River on the night between Tuesday and Wednesday and directed strict monitoring of embankments and the canal system along the river.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has chaired meetings to review the river situation and possible flood and directed relevant authorities to take necessary measures to avoid the loss of life and property.

Irrigation Minister Jam Khan Shoro also briefed Murad Ali Shah on the river situation, informing him that water inflow at Guddu Barrage was 383,000 cusecs while outflow was 350,000 cusecs.

At Sukkur Barrage, the inflow was recorded at 313,000 cusecs and outflow at 259,000 cusecs, whereas at Kotri Barrage, the inflow stood at 264,000 cusecs and outflow at 233,000 cusecs.

Officials said the situation at the barrages was stable so far.

During the briefing, the chief minister instructed all relevant departments and district administrations to remain fully active, with provincial ministers continuing to supervise precautionary measures.

He further appealed to residents living near riverbanks and in low-lying katcha areas to extend cooperation with the administration.
