An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore on Saturday sent Shahrez Khan, nephew of the PTI founder Imran Khan, to jail on judicial remand in connection with the May 9 Jinnah House attack case.

Shahrez Khan, son of Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan, has also filed a bail petition before the ATC.

Judge Manzar Ali Gul heard the police request, seeking an extension in physical remand.

During the hearing, Shahrez Khan’s counsel argued that the accused was not in Lahore on May 9, claiming that he was in Chitral with friends at the time.

The defence lawyer also presented sworn affidavits from Khan’s friends as evidence.

The lawyer contended that Shahrez Khan was implicated only because of being the PTI founder’s nephew, and urged the court to discharge him from the case.

However, the court ordered that the accused be sent to jail on judicial remand.
