The National Highway Authority (NHA) has announced updated toll tax rates for the Lahore-Islamabad Motorway (M2), effective from August 26, 2025, to August 25, 2026.

This annual increase is in accordance with the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) agreement established with the Frontier Works Organisation’s subsidiary, Motorway Operations and Rehabilitation Engineering (Private) Limited.

Reasons for the toll increase

According to the NHA’s notification, a 10% annual escalation in toll charges is stipulated in the concession agreement signed on April 23, 2014.

This contract requires yearly adjustments starting from the motorway’s second operational year, ensuring adequate funds for maintenance and smooth operations on one of the country’s busiest expressways.

New toll tax schedule for M2

The revised toll rates differ by vehicle class and distance travelled, calculated on a per-kilometre basis. The updated toll rates are as follows:

  1. Cars, Jeeps, and Taxis (Class 1): Rs1,330 (Rs3.72/km)

  2. Wagons (Class 2): Rs2,240 (Rs6.24/km)

  3. Buses: Rs3,130 (Rs8.73/km)

  4. 2-Axle Trucks (Class 4): Rs4,460 (Rs12.45/km)

  5. 3-Axle Trucks (Class 5): Rs5,800 (Rs16.20/km)
