Weather alert: New spell of heavy rains to hit Pakistan tomorrow
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Saturday issued a fresh warning as a new spell of heavy rains is set to hit the country starting tomorrow (August 17).
Widespread rainfall is expected across most regions, raising concerns about flooding and landslides.
According to the forecast, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will experience heavy showers between August 17 and 19.
Punjab and Islamabad are also likely to receive rain accompanied by thunder and lightning during the same period.
The weather system is expected to extend to Sindh and Balochistan, where intermittent downpours are predicted until August 21.
Authorities caution that low-lying areas could be inundated, while river and stream levels may rise sharply, increasing the risk of flash floods.
The Met Office has advised citizens to remain alert, especially in vulnerable areas, as heavy rainfall could trigger urban flooding, landslides and disruptions to daily life.
