Iran condemns Israeli regime’s plan to control Gaza
Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei has condemned the Israeli regime’s newly approved plan to take full military control of Gaza and forcibly displace its residents, calling it a clear sign of intent to commit genocide in Palestine.
Baghaei said the threat to completely occupy Gaza and historic Palestinian lands by “criminal rulers” wanted by the International Criminal Court (ICC) and under investigation by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) for genocide is further proof of the regime’s aim to ethnically cleanse Palestinians.
He urged both courts to take note of the plan.
He stressed the legal and moral responsibility of governments and the United Nations to halt the genocide and other crimes in occupied Palestine, calling the continued support of the United States and some Western states for Israel “disgraceful.”
Baghaei demanded an end to the genocide and immediate delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza’s “hungry and thirsty” population as a crucial step to ending the crisis.
He also highlighted Iran’s official request to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Secretariat, Saudi Arabia as its host country, and Turkiye as the current chair of its Council of Ministers to urgently convene a meeting on the worsening situation in Gaza.
The spokesperson urged collective action by Islamic countries to support the Palestinian people.
