Floods in Skardu destroys 49 Homes, 20 Shops, and 2 Mosques
The cloudburst has caused severe flooding in Kundus area of Skardu, spreading widespread destruction.
According to sources, 49 houses, 20 shops and 2 mosques were destroyed by the flood. The communication system in the area has been disrupted. It has washed away communication towers and cut off the land communication.
A roof collapsed due to heavy rain in the Daghoni sub division. A girl passed away in debris. Due to difficult routes and disconnected communications, rescue team faced difficulty during rescue operations.
The incident occurred two days ago during floods and land sliding caused devastation in Diamer district after the cloudburst.
This incident claimed lives of a doctor from Lodhran, his brother-in-law and his father-in-law. While his son is still missing.
Rescue teams rushed to the spot and have rescued more than 200 tourists and shifted them to Chilas.
An eight kilometre long connection road in Diamer has been destroyed due to land sliding.
According to the latest report from National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), the total number of deaths in recent rains, across the country has reached to 252.
The report also stated that 121 children, 85 men and 46 women are among the deceased.
In the last 24 hours, more than 10 people have lost their lives while 13 people were injured.
The highest number of deaths were reported in province of Punjab at 139, followed by 60 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 24 in Sindh and 16 in Balochistan.
