Humaira Asghar case: Police recover suspicious white powder from apartment
The investigation into the mysterious death of model and actress Humaira Asghar has taken a new turn as police discovered a suspicious white powder and other crucial evidence from her apartment in Karachi’s Defence area, officials said on Monday.
According to police sources, the white powder was found in three to four spots inside clay pots throughout the apartment. Investigators suspect it may have been used to suppress the odour of the decaying body, which was recovered earlier this month in a surprisingly intact condition despite the death reportedly occurring nearly 10 months ago.
The substance has been sent to a forensic laboratory for chemical examination to determine its composition and possible role in the preservation of the scene. The exact purpose of placing the powder in multiple locations remains unclear.
Additional items, including the actress’s clothing, have also been collected and will undergo chemical testing, police said.
Police are still investigating why no strong odour was detected from the decomposed body, which was found on July 8 in a rented flat where Humaira had been living since 2018. Preliminary post-mortem findings suggest the actress likely died in the first week of October 2024, indicating the body had been inside the apartment for approximately 10 months.
The circumstances surrounding Humaira Asghar’s death remain unclear, and the cause of death has yet to be established. Police continue to treat the case as suspicious and are exploring various possibilities, including foul play.
The shocking discovery has raised numerous questions and fueled speculation, with investigators hoping forensic results will shed light on what really happened to the late actress.
