Pakistan football gets new international head coach
Globally renowned coach Nolberto Solano has joined the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) as the head coach of the national under-23 team.
Solano, a former Peruvian international and celebrated coach, was part of Peru’s coaching staff during their 2018 FIFA World Cup campaign and the team’s runner-up finish in the 2019 Copa América. Known for his focus on developing young talent and promoting attacking football, Solano brings with him a wealth of international experience.
Alongside him, Argentine coach Jorge Castanheira has been appointed as the assistant coach of the national setup. Both Solano and Castanheira have agreed to join the Pakistan national football team as well as the U23 squad.
Their appointments have been approved for a one-year term. According to sources within the Pakistan Football Federation, the decision was passed with 7 out of 13 PFF Executive Committee members voting in favour, while 6 opposed it.
The official contracts with the two coaches are expected to be signed later this week.
